mural project review

  1. a theme that we could use here in school would probably be good of a school Akins is, we would take picture of people having fun learning and coming to school, all the awards that we have and all the academies that are in Akins.
  2. i think the theme should be devoted time and effort so that i could turn out really good and so people would understand what we are trying to show.
  3. an advantage to use a cameras phone would be easier to edit the picture and it would be better because we always have our phones with us so we won't miss a good moment as easily,a disadvantage is that it might be hard for some people to export the pictures once they take them and the pictures might not turn out so clear and good looking.
  4. advantages of using an SLR camera is that the image quality is going to be great, they will look awesome and not so blurry, some disadvantages are that they are a bit heavy and bulky, and people mitt not know how to use them a lot.
  5. i think that we should use both SLR and phone cameras because it would make things easier and i think that i would look cool once its al put together.

black and white part 3

1.caught my attention of the other photographers black and white photos are the expressions that it has and that it shows. The shadows and what the photo is about catches my eye. Especially when there is people involved.

2. From looking at the photos of the "Great Black and White Photographers part 2"

From the first photo of the woman I see the way she look calm and relaxed in this. The person who took the photo must have saw her beauty and wanted a natural chill looking photograph.
When thinking about this photo I feel peaceful for some reason. Just looking at her makes me feel calm.
When looking at the flower photograph I picture hearing birds chirping and feeling the sun on my skin and the wind blowing on my face.
And so looking at the two photos I picture smelling clean fresh air. Maybe some flowers or Dust depending on where the woman is.

3. would like to do a Power Point to expose this great artist. Maybe showing his very first photo he's ever taken and gradually show all the photos that he's taken over the course of his year as a professional artist. Like displaying that even professionals had to start off small and have a rough time trying to get the perfect shot at times but then they end up able to catch their dream of making it big and them well known

Africa: Black and White

He used a Pentax 6711 the reason why he took this photo is because he thought that the man where gonna destroy africa, the hope for taking these photos is to show how peaceful and beautiful africa i quote “On This Earth, A Shadow Falls, Across the Ravaged Land.” the reason why it was my favorite is because i like how the sand comes off the elephant the rule is framing cuz of how the black is around the elephant

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you? my camera the first time was a focus one so it was harder.

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly. well, i thought about  what my object was going to be. and how harder or easier i would be next time.. i great positions and angles they were almost all clear.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
no i would and get a better angle. of all my shots!!4. What things would you do the same? "everything i think i did really good the first time.

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?  Lines

6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?  ":Framing"

7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?
": The Rule of thirds its really complicated.

academic preview

(filling the frame)
how it fills the frame is that the boys writing is going across  the screen
(action and emotion) the action is the girl doing the trust fall and the emotion would be scared based on the look on her face
(the story) the story to me is the blue team was 3minutes from touch down until there running back gets injured
(my favorite) the reason why this is my favorite photo is because its mysterious and this is something that you would see in your dreams and the girl just standing there in the mist that makes it my favorite

academics shoot

(merge) 1) i followed it pretty well think cuz the guy is slight to the side in the red 2) the subject was the two guys interacting 3) yes it is clear to people what the subject is 4) made the guy in the red come out more
(frame) 1) i followed the rule well 2) edgar is the subject 3) yes it is clear of what my subject is because he is in the center 4) got more of the outlining of the walk way
(simplicity) 1) i think i followed the rule 2) the girls hand is the subject 3) yes its clear of what the subject is 4) to be honest there is nothing that i wouldn't want to change or do different
(lines) 1) yes i followed the rule 2) the lines on the locker is the subject 3) yes it is clear of what the subject is 4) i could have backed up and put more of the locker in it
(balance)
1) yes i followed the rule 2) the kids are the subject 3) yes its clear of what the subject is 4) probably would have not put the water  bottle in the way of the shot

(rule of thirds)
1) yes i follow the rule 2) the girl twirling the gun is the subject 3) yes it is clear of what the subject is 4) probably would have straighten up the camera got more of a straight and focus shot

photo composition

rule of thirds because it is divided into three and the the building is more focus on cuz there is the tree and the second building and the main one in smoke
merge- because the truck on the rite side is cut off
discussion- because it is alot going on in the picture
simplicity- because its simple and its just the building in the background
framing- this is framing because of how the buildings are the main subject with the blue out lining
lines- because of the lines on the buildings
balance- because of how the buildings are balance

the things i like about her page is that she has a nice usage of words and that she is very precise of choosing her pictures
the thing that i don't like about her blog is that some of her pictures are  blurry needs better clarity

elements of art and principles example

i chose this photo for the lining of the dock that goes out into the distance .
i chose this photo for the abstract walk path of lining leading under the bridge.

elements of art and principles of design

Lines are marks made by a pointed tool: brush, pencil, pen, etc. Lines can vary in width, direction, curvature, length, or color.

Shapes are formed wherever the ends of a continuous line meet. Geometric shapes such as circles, triangles or squares have perfect, uniform measurements and don't often appear in nature.
Color wheels show the primary colors, secondary colors, and the tertiary (intermediate) colors. They also show the relationships between complementary colors across from each other, such as blue and orange; and analogous (similar or related) colors next to each other such as yellow, green, and blue.
Value, or tone, refers to dark and light; the value scale refers to black and white with all gradations of gray in between.  Value contrasts help us to see and understand a two-dimensional work of art.
Form describes objects that are three-dimensional, having length, width, and height.
Texture can be rough, bumpy, slick, scratchy, smooth, silky, soft, prickly--the list is endless.  Texture refers to the surface quality, both simulated and actual, of artwork.
Space refers to distances or areas around, between, or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or  negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-dimensional.
Balance is the comfortable or pleasing arrangement of things in art.  There are three different types of balance: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial. The human figure is symmetrically balanced; the same on the left and right side. The tree is asymmetrically balanced; its branches are not distributed equally on each side, but their total weight is balanced left and right. The sun is an example of radial balance; all its rays are equal in length from the center.
Contrast is created by using elements that conflict with one another. Often, contrast is created using complementary colors or extremely light and dark values. Contrast creates interest in a piece and often draws the eye to certain areas. It is used to make a painting look interesting.
Emphasis in the focal area of an artwork gives it importance.  An artist may stress some elements of the design over others. The eye of the viewer will focus on the area of emphasis or center of interest first, then take in the rest of the composition.

Movement in an artwork means the artist is taking viewers on a trip through the work by means of lines, edges, shapes, and colors often leading to the focal area.  Movement is a visual flow through the composition. It can be the suggestion of motion in a design as you move from object to object by way of placement and position.  Directional movement can be created with a value pattern. It is with the placement of dark and light areas that you can move your attention through the format.

Patterns are made in art when the same shapes or elements are repeated again and again.  Pattern uses the elements of art in planned or random repetitions to enhance surfaces of paintings or sculptures.
Rhythm is the repetition of shapes, lines, and forms.  Rhythm is a movement in which some elements recurs regularly.  Like a dance, it will have a flow of objects that will seem to be like the beat of music.

Unity means that all elements in an artwork are in harmony.  Unity brings together a composition with similar units.  For example, if your composition was using wavy lines and organic shapes you would stay with those types of lines and not put in even one geometric shape.
